Ingredients

Scale
  • 500 g all-purpose flour
  • 1½ tsp salt
  • 2¼ tsp instant dry yeast
  • 120 g sugar
  • 240 ml lukewarm milk
  • 60 g unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 egg (room temperature)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 900 g apples (Pink Lady, Fuji, or Royal Gala)
  • 60 g unsalted butter (for filling)
  • 170 g brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • ¼ tsp salt

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, and yeast. In another bowl, whisk sugar, lukewarm milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla. Gradually mix wet into dry ingredients until combined.
  2. Knead dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap or towel, and let rise in a warm place for about an hour or until doubled in size.
  3. Peel and chop apples; sauté in melted butter over medium heat with brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, and salt until tender.
  4. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Roll out risen dough into a rectangle and spread apple filling evenly. Roll tightly and cut into slices.
  5. Place on parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 30-40 minutes until golden brown. Cool slightly before serving.
